Memories - Yamini
2007
SPICMACAY @ IIM - The team that made Yamini 2007 happen!
What a
magical experience it was!!!
The Dawn to Dusk Classical
Festival was marked by a record turnout of more than 2000
people of which many were from outside IIMB,
reinforcing Yamini’s already strong brand image.
Bombay Jayashree’s lilting
melodies in the natural setting of the Open Air Theatre
lifted many a spirit, her “Jagatho Dhaarana” filling the
audience with inner peace. The perfect harmony between
technical expertise and the “feel and mood” of the raga that
she epitomized mesmerized one and all.
Purbayan Chatterjee’s recital
was short and sweet - interspersed with his vocal renditions
and enthusiastic audience feedback. The “gaddhas” and the
open-air ambience added to the mood of relaxation and
infinite time.
Rama Vaidyanathan’s
scintillating performance – a cross between traditional and
modern Bharatanatyam left the audience in complete awe. The
“Mayura Alarippu” set the pace for the concert, which was a
pure visual delight to both the art connoisseur as well as
the layman. Through ‘bhava’, the
quintessence of symmetry, and passion, the artist captivated
the audience.
The technical brilliance of
the grand finale - the Veena-violin “samwada” between
Jayanthi & Kumaresh was very well appreciated. The duo
played “Kaapi” raga to rejuvenate the audience as the first
light of dawn approached.
The passion of the entire
SPICMACAY team was very apparent from all the energy and
enthusiasm with which they organized and coordinated the
entire event. This reinforces the belief that we have a
passionate SPICMACAY team at IIM Bangalore, which truly
endeavors to bring classical music to popular culture and
the youth.
