That
which is night to all beings, in that state, the wise one is
awake
IIM B takes
immense pleasure in inviting you once again to our annual
tribute to Indian Classical Arts – Yamini ’08.
To the
uninitiated, have you wondered what Yamini means?
Yamini means
‘Night’, but it is not a night as we simply know it. It is
The Night that sets in every year on
the evening of 25th of January. It is the night
that descends on Bangalore, gently, slowly, to the
mellifluous notes of music and the gentle rhythm of the
artist’s feet. It is the night when the clouds above, part
to reveal the star spangled banner of the dark skies. It is
the night when the lush green lawns of IIM Bangalore sport
their best cushions for the patrons of art. When Yamini is
on, you wake up to your inner self, and dissolve in the
shower of music and dance. From Malkauns to Bhairavi, from
dusk to dawn, the night of revelation prevails.
Yamini is an
ecletic mix of Indian Classical Music and Dance performances
on
a single dias. Organized by IIM Bangalore since 2004, it is open to
all of Bangalore and has attracted a faithful audience across
ages, over the years. Yamini last year attracted over 4000
footfalls and was a success beyond words. This year, Yamini
’08 is IIM B’s biggest ever offering to Bangalore’s art
lovers. When the people elsewhere count the stars in the
night sky of 25th January 2008, you will
additionally count five special ones in IIM B. The five
artists performing for Yamini ’08 are the very best in their
fields and will enthrall your senses. IIMB invites you to an
evening of ecstasy. Come and watch the stars with us.
